The Campaign

Stroud 5050 is a campaign to meet 50% of our local homes’ electricity needs through clean, green energy - harnessing the natural power of the wind.Ultimately, it’s about creating energy security for the UK - starting in Stroud. The fact is, just 16 windmills will create enough energy to power 50% of Stroud’s homes. This has to be the way forward.

All you have to do is give us your support to help us achieve this goal. We’ll find the best sites and build
the windmills. That’s the inspiration behind Stroud 5050 - a campaign that will help kick-start the energy revolution. It’s about people seizing the initiative and creating positive change. Together, we can make this happen.

Why you should care about green energy

“This is about joined-up thinking - giving local people the power to choose where their energy comes from, and all of us working together to make it happen.” Dale Vince OBE, Ecotricity Founder

We need to face up to the facts: the UK has to become energy independent in a hurry. Our oil and gas are virtually history. Supplies from other parts of the world are at risk from events we have no control over.

Yet there’s an obvious solution right on our doorstep: wind power. As the UK’s most abundant energy resource, it can play a massive part in the fight against climate change. And, unlike North Sea oil, it will never run out.

As a nation, all we need to do is harness its incredible power. It really is that simple. So let’s start now. All you have to do is add your voice to ours.
